Immigration to the USA from Ukraine
To fulfill their dreams or in search of a safe place of residence, thousands of Ukrainians decided to immigrate from Ukraine to the United States. Immigration has become a kind of hope for a better future and a chance to change one’s destiny.
The process of immigrating to the United States from Ukraine can be long and complex. You need to follow many different legal procedures and carefully plan them in order to obtain a visa. In today's article, we will look at possible ways of immigration to the USA.
There are the following ways for Ukrainians to immigrate to the USA:
Educational immigration. A Student Visa is issued for studying in US educational institutions. Then, after completing your education, you have the opportunity to apply for a Work Visa or use other legal ways to stay in the United States.
Labor immigration. To obtain a High Skilled Work Visa (H-1B program), a US employer must file a petition in your name.
Green Card Lottery. Held annually, the Green Card Lottery is a random selection of which winners are eligible to receive an Immigrant Visa. The official name of this program is Diversity Visa (DV). It is also worth noting that the process of obtaining this visa involves filling out many forms, providing personal documents, and undergoing an interview.
Family immigration. If your close relatives live in the United States, they can file a petition against you. These are visas: fiancé/groom K-1, for family members F and others.
Investment immigration. Ukrainians who have invested a certain amount in the US economy are eligible for investment immigration under the EB-5 program.
Obtaining refugee status or asylum. If you have fears for your safety or have become a victim of political persecution, you can apply for refugee or asylum status.
Let's also take a closer look at a very important form of immigration from Ukraine to the USA. This form is called I-134 "Affidavit of Support." It is necessary to confirm that the person (US citizen or permanent resident) who invites a foreigner to the United States has sufficient financial resources to meet the initial needs of the foreigner in the country. Form I-134 is required for both immigrant and non-immigrant visas. Supporting documents such as copies of tax returns, bank statements, or other financial documents are often required to be submitted along with this form.
Seeking a better life, Ukrainians make a difficult decision and begin the process of immigration to the United States. Everyone wants to leave danger, instability, and economic difficulties behind. Often it is these desires that give strength to overcome the complex bureaucratic difficulties of immigration from Ukraine to the United States and begin a new stage in life
