What is the purpose of Form I-90?
The purpose of Form I-90 is to replace green cards of U.S. lawful and conditional permanent residents. The official name of Form I-90 is Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card. It must be applied when a green card expires or will expire within 90 days period. If a green card is damaged, or holder’s personal information is changed, Form I-90 can also replace the green card.
However, Form I-90 cannot replace the green card of conditional permanent residents if the green card has already expired or will expire in 90 days period. In this case, conditional permanent residents need to submit either Form I-751 or Form I-829 to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services agency.
