Form N-644 | Application for Posthumous Citizenship
Purpose of Form
There are a lot of non-US citizens who fight and die for the US as members of the US Armed Forces. The government of US appreciates their contribution to the military success of our country, that’s why people who died during the active duty with the US armed services or whose death is tightly bound with injured or diseases, which they get during this period, can get the status of citizens of the US. However, Posthumous Citizenship is just an honorary status, which doesn’t give any immigration privileges for relatives.
Special Instructions
If you want to use this way to get US citizenship, you should file USCIS form N-644 (Application for Posthumous Citizenship). If your application is submitted, you will get a Certificate of Citizenship.
